Mining business unit of Adani group was established in the year 2007 as the last link in ensuring energy security of India. Adani Mining started its first project in the year 2009 through its unique model of Mine Developer and Operator (MDO) contract for development of Parsa East and Kanta Basan coal block allotted to RRVUNL. As an MDO, Adani Mining undertook mining operations on a turnkey basis and successfully dispatched the first rake in March 2013. Development of the project from planning to production was done in a record time of 3.5 years, which is a benchmark for the coal mining industry in India. Today, the company stands at a peak production capacity of 29.5 MTPA with the addition of three more coal blocks – Kente Extension, Parsa & Jitpur in its portfolio. It has provided employment to more than 1200 people and has produced 3.4 million tonnes of ROM in year 2014 – 15.

Parsa East and Kanta Basan, Chhattisgarh, 15 MMTPA
Parsa East & Kanta Basan coal block is located in the central part of Hasdeo-Arand coal field in Sarguja district in the state of Chhattisgarh. It has a total mineable reserve of 452.46 MMT with a peak capacity of 15 MMTPA & mine life of 30 years.
The coal block was allotted to Rajsthan Rajya Vidyut Nigam Ltd. in 2007. Thereafter, Adani Mining Pvt. Ltd. was appointed as the mine developer cum operator (MDO) in 2009, which was the first mining operation of Adani Group. The company undertook the ownership of all the activities starting from pre-development study to supplying the washed coal to the TPS and successfully dispatched the first rake in March 2013. It has successfully commissioned a coal handling plant of 20 MMTPA, a coal Washery of 10 MMTPA and is in the final stage of developing 79 km long 132 kVA transmission line, and 75 km long railway corridor for its Parsa East & Kanta Basan coal block.
Kente Extension, Chhattisgarh, 7MMTPA
Kente Extension coal block is also located in the central part of Hasdeo-Arand coal field in Sarguja district in state of Chhattisgarh. It has a total estimated reserve of 200 MMT with a peak production capacity of 7 MMTPA & mine life of 30 years.
The coal block was allotted to Rajsthan Rajya Vidyut Nigam Ltd. in Aug’13 and subsequently Adani Mining company was appointed as MDO for its development and operation in Oct’13. The project will harness the benefit of common infrastructure with Parsa East and Kanta Basan coal block.
Parsa, Chhattisgarh, 5 MMTPA
Parsa coal block too is located in central part of Hasdeo-Arand coal field in Sarguja district in the state of Chhattisgarh. It has a total extractable reserve of 184.26 MMT with a peak production capacity of 5 MMTPA and a mine life of 39 years.
Jitpur, Jharkhand, 2.5 MMTPA
Jitpur coal block is located in north-western part of Chuperbita Basin of Rajmahal coal field in Godda district of Jharkhand. It has extractable coal reserve of 65.53 million tonnes with peak capacity of 2.5 MTPA & mine life of 27 years. The coal block has been allotted to Adani Power Pvt. Ltd. by Gov. of India in April 2015.
