Sustainable Supply Chain Management

Sourcing Responsibly to Build Resilient Value Chains

AEL integrates ESG considerations across supplier engagement to strengthen responsible sourcing and supply chain resilience. Our Sustainable Supply Chain Management Policy and Supplier Code of Conduct set clear expectations on ethics, human rights, labour standards, environment and workplace safety. We screen new suppliers on ESG criteria, assess and manage ESG risks across existing suppliers including MSMEs and support improvement through corrective actions and capability building. By using digital platforms, we strengthen transparency, traceability, and governance across supplier lifecycle management.

Our Contributions

Applying a board-reviewed supplier code of conduct covering ESG, ethics, and compliance expectations across supplier categories
Performing structured supplier ESG assessments (desk-based and onsite), supported by evidence verification and improvement plans
Conducting ESG screening during onboarding, with enhanced scrutiny for high-risk suppliers and threshold-based approvals
Driving supplier improvement through corrective action tracking and ESG capability-building initiatives across key themes
Strengthening transparency and efficiency through digital procurement via SAP Ariba and supplier lifecycle digitisation

Supplier ESG Programme

AEL’s Supplier ESG Programme integrates sustainability and ESG principles into sourcing and supply chain operations. It enables the identification of ESG risks and implementation of corrective actions to strengthen performance across the value chain. All suppliers must comply with the Supplier Code of Conduct, with purchasing practices regularly reviewed for alignment. Mandatory ESG training ensures internal stakeholders effectively support and implement the programme.
