Operating the Carmichael mine
Our mining operations in Australia, trading under the name Bravus, constitute a multi-faceted energy and infrastructure enterprise that provides tailored energy solutions for a progressing global landscape. With a focus on fostering a sustainable and affordable energy mix, our operations play a crucial role in facilitating the transition towards a lower-carbon future.
The Carmichael mine, an open-cut thermal coal facility located more than 300 km west of the Queensland coast, is operated by Bravus Mining and Resources. Today the mine has safely achieved a consistent rate of production of more than 10 million tonnes per annum. Through such sustained investment, Adani Mining in Australia strengthens Australia’s mining ecosystem and supports energy security across the Asia-Pacific.
The business focuses on delivering integrated energy solutions for global markets. All coal produced from the mine is sold in the international seaborne thermal coal market. Throughout its operations, Bravus Mining and Resources prioritises sustainable business growth while creating long-term value for customers, communities, and stakeholders.
11.4 million tonnes of coal were produced at the Carmichael mine and 11.5 million tonnes shipped.
The mine possesses a JORC-compliant resource of over 11.17 billion tonnes of thermal coal, indicating substantial reserves for future operations.
